20 to Square Off in 2024 NCHA Futurity Open Finals

The field is set for the 2024 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Open finals.

Led by Too Hot to Tagg and Kenny Platt, who marked a 221.5 to top the semifinals, the 20 horse-and-rider pairs will walk to the herd one final time on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. This year’s finals will consist of two sets of 10.

Seventy-nine horses made the Open semifinals, which were held Friday, Dec. 6. A 218 was required to advance to Saturday’s Open finals.

Several cutting horse stallions are represented by multiple offspring in the Open finals of this year’s NCHA Futurity, led by the five contenders sired by Reyzin The Cash. Three stallions sired three entries in the Open finals: Badboonarising, who is a freshman sire represented by his first foal crop in this year’s Futurity; as well as Metallic Rebel and Stevie Rey Von.

The night begins at 6 p.m. with special presentations and introduction of this year’s NCHA Futurity Open finalists, followed by the settle and then first set. That’s when cutting horse enthusiasts around the globe will find out who will follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners, Lone Woolf and Wesley Galyean, to etch their name in the sport’s record books.
