Chad Bushaw and Butterflies Breeder’s Invitational Derby Non Pro Champions

With a 222-point run, Chad Bushaw and Butterflies (PG Heavily Armed x Bittersweet x Metallic Cat) won the 2024 Breeder’s Invitational Derby Non Pro at the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The NCHA Non Pro Hall of Famer and EquiStat Elite $4 Million Rider owns Crown Ranch and has immersed himself in the cutting horse industry over the past 25 years. Just one example of the impressive competition at this show, Bushaw and the bay roan mare marked two 218.5-point runs in the first and second go before riding into the finals first out in the working order.

One of the highest paying shows in the sport, the Breeder’s Invitational (BI) is a non-profit corporation formed to promote and enhance the cutting horse industry by creating another major event with a very large purse. This year, the BI ran May 11 – 25, 2024 and brought many of the industry’s top horses and riders to Tulsa. In 2023, Janet Westfall and Ripp Tide (Metallic Rebel x Laguna Girl x CD Royal) left with the Derby Non Pro win after a 221-point run.
